At Maghull High School, we believe that reading is the key to unlocking creativity, imagination, and lifelong learning. We are all readers at Maghull High School, whether you’re diving into a new novel, exploring different genres, or discovering new interests through non-fiction. The library is here to support every student on their journey, offering a wide range of resources to spark curiosity and inspire a love for reading.

Parents and students alike are invited to engage with our library’s offerings. From inspiring reads to support for academic growth, our goal is to nurture a community of readers who are empowered to succeed in all aspects of life.

Pupils can check books out and read at home for 4 weeks before having to renew or replace the book.

Incentives to Read:

• Sparx Reader – We organise reward celebrations and trips for above and beyond Reading for Knowledge

• School Scholastic Book Fair – This event is held each November in school which gives pupils the chance to help run the book fair as an enterprise scheme and promotes reading for pleasure with great buys at the book fair.

• Donate a Book Scheme – This runs each January/February. This has proved a huge success and thanks to all those pupils and staff that kindly donated books!

• Book Buzz – This is a new scheme whereby the pupils have been given a FREE book of their choice to read in class and then follow up with a book review and questionnaire.  Again promoting reading for pleasure across the curriculum
