Year 11 Revision Evening https://maghullhigh.org.uk/year-11-revision-evening/ Fri, 08 Nov 2024 11:56:54 +0000 https://maghullhigh.org.uk/?p=182658 Y11 Revision Evening – Letter

Thursday 7 November

Dear Parent/Guardian

Year 11 Revision Parents Evening: Tuesday 12 November

Sixth Form Open Evening: Thursday 14 November

We would like to invite students, parents and carers to our Year 11 Revision Evening on Tuesday 12 November, 6pm-7pm. This evening will serve as an opportunity to learn how best to support your son/daughter with revision towards their mock examinations and external examinations.

Heads of core subjects, as well as senior staff, will be available throughout the evening to answer questions about upcoming mock examinations and discuss specific revision techniques. There will also be an opportunity to purchase revision guides on this evening, also.

All students who attend this evening will receive a free revision pack full of essential materials (worth £10). All parents and carers in attendance will be entered into a prize draw for a £50 supermarket voucher.

In addition to Tuesday’s Revision Evening, we would like to invite you to our Sixth Form Open Evening which takes place on Thursday 14 November, 5:30pm-7:30pm. In a slight change to previous years, our Sixth Form Open Evening will begin in the Howe Theatre in the main school building with a talk from our Headteacher at 5:30pm. This will provide an opportunity for us to share with you all the exciting new pathways that we will be launching in our Sixth Form next year including:

  • Academic A Levels
  • Build at Maghull
  • Health at Maghull
  • W442 at Maghull (our first ever girls’ football pathway)

There will then be an opportunity to visit our Sixth Form Centre and speak to staff from all subject areas to gain a further understanding of the courses we offer.

We look forward to seeing you all next week at both events. If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours Sincerely,

Miss K Robinson                                                                                                                         Mr M Couttie

Bus Service 723 https://maghullhigh.org.uk/bus-service-723/ Tue, 08 Oct 2024 11:14:15 +0000 https://maghullhigh.org.uk/?p=182509 Bus service 723

8 October 2024

Dear Parents/carers

Update to bus service 723

Please see below information from Liverpool City Region relating to bus service 723.

The Liverpool City Region continually carry out reviews of their services that provide additional capacity to the network in the morning and evening peaks. Following this review from Monday 4th November 2024, we are making the following adjustment to the services that serve Maghull High School.

Service 723 will only have one trip in the afternoon and depart at 15:30. The duplicate service at 15:31 will no longer operate.

This is following consultation with the school to review student loadings with observations carried out by the operational team of the Liverpool City Region. In this consultation we agreed there was only a requirement for one bus on the 723 in the afternoons.

As part of the consultation, we discussed the current commercial services on the network students can use. The Maghull Circulars operated, from Liverpool Road, provide links to the Rail Station for wider connectivity to the City Region.

Also from Liverpool Road, Arriva operate the 300 and 310, which runs along similar corridors to the 723 and through Aintree, Old Roan and past the black bull.

These services offer a more frequent alternative of the 723.

Network maps and timetables will be updated on the Merseytravel website in due course and will be shared with the school main office.

Yours sincerely

Mr M Kay

Headteacher

Wednesday 25 September

Dear Parent/Guardian

Tutor Parents Evening: Thursday 3 October

Our first Parents Evening of the school year is scheduled to take place on Thursday 3 October. This Parents Evening will be held virtually and will provide an opportunity for parents and carers to meet with their child’s tutor, who will be able to provide information on how students have settled into the new academic year.

Please note: Tutor Parents Evening for students in Mrs Cunningham’s year 11 tutor group (11CC) will take place between 4pm-7pm on Wednesday 2 October.

Each appointment will cover progress so far, expectations of our new behaviour and rewards policies, as well as explore any additional support required for your son/daughter to progress through the year.

Appointments will be available to book online from 12pm today, and our booking system will close at 4pm on Wednesday 2 October. Each appointment is five minutes long to ensure all parents are able to meet with tutors. You will also be able to book in an appointment with your son/daughter’s Head of Year, in addition to meeting with their tutor.

Please use the link below to book in your appointment with your child’s tutor:

Following our Tutor Parents Evening, there will be opportunities to meet with each of your child’s subject teachers at our annual Parents Evenings throughout the year, as listed below:

Year 11: Thursday 24 October and Thursday 27 February

Year 10: Thursday 12 December

Year 9: Wednesday 12 February (Options Evening) and Thursday 6 March (Parents Evening)

Year 8: Thursday 6 February

Year 7: Thursday 23 January

We will then have another opportunity to discuss your child’s progress at our second Tutor Parents Evening on Thursday 26 June.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you virtually on Thursday 3 October.

Yours Sincerely,

Miss N Murphy
